ICF PLATFORM
From a white label platform
to the rebirth of an old brand.

"…redesign the platform from a metal body construction into a plastic injection molding build"
This project had been running for a year, ready to go into production, when the PMs realized the landed cost was going to be to high and that the scope had changed with the recent acquisition of Igloo.
This is where where I took over the project as I started at Dometic. The current design lead was going on parental leave.
My responsibility was to redesign the platform from a metal body construction into a plastic injection molding build while also ensuring a white label design that could be adapted to fit different brands, starting with Igloo, Mobicool and Dometic.
Project Objectives:
Minimize Capex
"Multi-brand" design
Be fast (we were already a year behind)

The End!
Or so I thought…

The re-introduction of Waeco
In 2025, I was briefed with the task to update the design of the ICF platform to accommodate the Waeco brand.
Now positioned as a "fighter value brand"
Breif:
"Make it Waeco, at a cheaper price point without changing major tools"
My Approach:
Change touchpoints
Resort to cheaper processer where applicable (Blow molded lids)
Bold branding
Cheap yet effect full add-ons.
