Stille needed help developing an updated version of a surgical device of theirs,
but didn't know where to start.

APPROACH

Unveil the real need of Stille through a design and user first approach.

Observational study and interviews

I was responsible for preparing
interview guides to be used
during interviews with:

- Stille Product owner
- Stille's internal experts
- Stille partner surgeons
- Head of surgery at Karolinska University Hospital
- Surgical nurse at Karolinska University Hospital

Research goals:

- Understanding of procedures and use of the tool to
- Create alignment in the development team and with the client.
- Find critical tasks
- Common pain points
- Ideas for improvments
- Understanding of the context
- Understanding of the competitive landscape

We did lab tests together to understand airflow, benchmark fans but most importantly find the root cause of the noise issue.

A fully functional prototype was built to verify the cooling unit design and get real test data on the performance.
